    1. Premium IOL patients requires assessment of foveal anatomy

One of the changes that we've seen in cataract surgery over the last three to five years has been that our patients have become younger and they have increased expectations regarding the quality of vision they are going to have after cataract surgery. To that end they are looking at premium intraocular lenses and they want excellent outcomes for all levels of visual function. With that in mind it becomes absolutely critical to have great assessment of foveal anatomy prior to surgery. I found the use of the Cirrus HD OCT very helpful in many of these patients when there is a question to help define the foveal anatomy and determine whether a patient is truly a candidate for one of these new technology lenses or not.
