""UHR" refers to "Ultra High Resolution" OCT with approximately 2 micron axial resolution. We are aware of prototypes for these products from a number of companies, at least one of which is offered for commercial sale today . But we have not seen a tremendous demand for these devices, given their expense compared to the additional clinical information they provide.""

"I read with interest the study "Ability of the Cirrus HD-OCT Optic Nerve Head Parameters to Discriminate Normal from Glaucomatous Eyes" Ophthalmology (article in press)

According to this study the rim area seems to be a very good parameter in distinguishing normals from glaucoma (especially early glaucoma)

I am just wondering when it would be said that the rim area is low or adequate since it is not included in the normative database of the machine. Will Cirrus HD-OCT soon come out with a normative database for rim area soon?

      Thank you

"Dear Dr. de Leon- Thank you for your comment! And to answer your question, with our current Cirrus HD-OCT software, version 5.1, Optic Nerve Head parameters, including rim area, are compared to normative data. Please email us at zeissoct@meditec.zeiss.com and we can email you in return an example of the RNFL ONH printout to explain in further detail. Thanks again - ZEISS OCT"
